Hello, I'm Maggie
I help organizations unlock the full potential of neurodivergent talent through better hiring, placement, and support strategies. As one of the co-founders of Cogent, I bring over twelve years of experience translating research into practice for leaders, HR professionals, and managers. My background spans science, psychology, data science and applied human resources, and I’ve spent years working directly with organizations to build inclusive systems that recognize cognitive diversity as a competitive advantage.
I meet monthly with leading global researchers in dyslexia and neurodivergence to stay current with the latest developments, and I’m the lead developer of Apolitical’s first-ever global neurodiversity course, designed to train public servants in over 180 countries. I focus on helping decision-makers understand how neurodivergent thinking styles when supported correctly, can solve complex problems, enhance team performance, and drive innovation.
My Story
I was diagnosed with dyslexia at twenty-one. Before that, I had earned a degree in biochemistry, published a peer-reviewed stem cell research paper by nineteen, and yet always felt something was missing in the way I learned and worked. That diagnosis was a turning point, it helped me understand why I struggled in traditional systems, even while excelling in research and innovation.
Curious and determined, I turned to psychology and eventually Human Resources. I realized that while education is important, the end goal is meaningful employment. I’ve seen firsthand how often neurodivergent individuals are overlooked, not because they lack ability, but because workplaces aren’t yet equipped to see or support their strengths.
That’s why I started Cogent: to help organizations build the understanding, systems, and culture needed to support and benefit from neurodivergent minds. I’ve spent more than a decade doing this work consulting, designing tools, and developing leadership training programs rooted in the latest research and real-world results. My goal is to help you build teams that think differently, collaborate effectively, and lead with insight.
